What is an accessory dwelling unit (ADU)?
Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) refer to additional housing units constructed on established single or multifamily residential properties. They are alternatively known as backyard homes, second dwelling units, guest houses, casitas, backyard cottages, mother-in-law units, and granny flats.
